Places to See in Shillong

Shillong in Northeast India, capital of Meghalaya, is a meadow with a changing climate from windy to rainy. The hills of Shillong are usually compared with Scotland. The hills are connected by a long road between hills and elevation through Guwahatim Silchar and Garo Hills. Umroi is the nearest airport 30 kilometers from Shillong.

Only cars and the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) bus can take you to the hill station from Guwahati. The 4 hour travel give you a breathtaking view, especially when it is raining, as you will see trees and lakes like Barapani as you travel by land.

We had our Honeymoon in Meghalaya.   It is a very good choice indeed.   And we found it to be a perfect destination for a honeymoon.   I’ll share our experience with all of you.

While travelling from Guwahati, we halted at the Umiam Lake (or Barapani) about 19 km before Shilllong.   After spending few hours there, we headed continued our journey to Shillong.   Shillong is a normal hill station, but we stay there for the night and we suggest you stay at Roseville.
